The pilots everyone wants to beat

The final part of our series looks at the champions of the Red Bull Air Race

Muroya - one to beat

Over the last four days, to coincide with the season starting, we've looked at all the pilots in the Red Bull Air Race and today it's the turn of the champions, these are the pilots that all the others are looking to beat...

Yoshihide Muroya

The World Champion took four race wins last year to take the title, if it wasn't for some technical issues he would've blown the competition away. He's already looking competitive and his team is right behind the Japanese hero. He'll be hard to beat this year and all eyes will be on him.

Matthias Dolderer
Dolderer became the World Champion in 2016 with a race to spare. He struggled to keep up that intensity last season, but in the lead up to today's race we've seen Dolderer back to his best. The German wants his title back in 2018 and if he can remain focused on racing he'll be tough to beat.

Kirby Chambliss
Kirby Chambliss has 10 wins to his name and is the only competitor to have won the title twice. Last year the American was back to his title winning best. He has brought on board Paulo Iscold as his tactician and it is now paying dividends. After finishing fourth in 2017 he'll believe he can go even better this year.

You can watch the ones to beat as they take on the other Master Class pilots in today's race, the action starts at 14:00 local time. Catch all the action HERE.
